Manaakitanga CARE Customer Service Mastery

The Manaakitanga CARE Customer Service Mastery Programme was created in response to community feedback from an extensive consultation process, which identified "Experiencing Respect and Compassion — Manawanui" as a priority area. The feedback highlighted the importance of being treated with respect and empathy, ensuring that individuals feel their needs are valued when seeking health and wellbeing services. The programme aims to help the community feel confident in accessing care for their mental health and overall wellbeing. Targeted at front-facing staff in the health and wellbeing sector within the wider Gore District, it is fully funded by Hokonui Locality, with no cost other than time, to promote positive interactions and enhance user-centric services.

The first cohort for the Manaakitanga CARE Customer Service Mastery Programme came to a successful close in late November 2024, marking a significant achievement for the front-facing staff who participated from our local community. These groups, made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds and workplaces, completed the course and are now equipped with new skills, knowledge, and techniques that will benefit them both personally and professionally. The programme not only offered valuable insights into customer service excellence but also fostered a sense of unity and growth among the participants, allowing them to connect and learn together. To celebrate their hard work, each participant was presented with a Certificate to commemorate their learning journey. A special thanks goes to Suzanna Rangi, the incredible facilitator and lead designer of the programme, whose expertise and dedication made this experience truly impactful.

Currently, a new cohort is actively participating in the Manaakitanga CARE programme, building upon the success of the first group. This ongoing cohort is embracing the same opportunities for growth and development, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on both the participants and their respective communities.

More information on their progress and upcoming developments will be shared at a later date. We are committed to continuing the success of this programme and look forward to inspiring even more individuals to take part in future cohorts.
